Project Overview

Aviation Weather is an in-house mobile application developed by the NextStack team to revolutionize how aviation professionals access and interpret real-time weather data. Tailored for pilots, flight planners, and weather enthusiasts, the app delivers accurate METAR and TAF reports, visual weather maps, and customizable tools to improve safety and decision-making during flight planning.

The Challenge

We aimed to create an app that delivers highly technical weather data in a clean, clear, and easy-to-use format. It needed to provide fast performance, smooth navigation, and customizable options for a wide range of users—from students to experienced pilots. The main goal was to combine accuracy with great UX and visual clarity, all within a mobile environment.

The Solution

We created a cross-platform mobile application with a strong focus on speed, clarity, and usability. Users can search and follow any airport in the world, view detailed METAR and TAF information, and explore live weather maps with wind, cloud, and precipitation data. The app allows users to customize how they view pressure, temperature, and altitude units. It includes dark and light themes, offline access, and a premium version without ads that unlocks additional features. The final product is fast, responsive, and reliable—built to support daily use by aviation professionals.

TitleUser-centered approach
The MVP approach helped us test key functionality early with our user base. We refined the experience through iterative feedback to deliver a UX that meets the real needs of pilots and aviation users.

Early market validation
We stress-tested the app in real-world conditions, validating its performance and usefulness before public launch, reducing risk and development waste.

Flexible customization
Users can fine-tune pressure (hPa/inHg/mmHg), altitude (feet/meters), and temperature (°C/°F/K) units to match their regional standards or personal preferences.

Seamless UX design
Our interface offers intuitive navigation, sleek visuals, widget integration, and quick access to favorite airports—all optimized for in-flight use.
